Juana Amaya y Farruquito

FROM SPAIN: Flamenco Puro
Por Derecho

Tuesday & Wednesday, February 11 & 12, 2003
8 pm, Campbell Hall

“If you see only one flamenco dancer in
your lifetime, Amaya is the one.”

—The Independent (London)

“His brooding presence, á la Heathcliff,
enriched his explosive style.”

—The New York Times

The grandson of the legendary Gypsy dancer El Farruco, Farruquito (Juan Manuel Fernandez) has become one of the most celebrated figures in contemporary flamenco dance. Juana Amaya is considered a pure product of the Gypsy dance, famed for her charisma and virtuosic footwork. These artists from Seville and their troupe of eight musicians will provide an evening of passion, precision and pulse-pounding excitement.

Presented in association with the Flamenco Arts Festival

$35, 30 / UCSB Students $19, 16
