WAKING THE AMERICAN DREAM

Thursday, February 27, 2003
8 pm, Campbell Hall

“With her indignation and resilient humor, she knows how to project a kind of authority that’s exhilarating to watch.”
—Variety

Hip-hop poet, spoken-word performer, actor and playwright Sarah Jones won the Best One-Person Show Award at HBO’s Aspen Comedy Arts Festival for Surface Transit and the Nuyorican Poets Café 1997 Grand Slam Championship. She has appeared on the cover of Ms. Magazine and has acted in Spike Lee’s Bamboozled and Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues. Her latest work Waking the American Dream is a funny, affecting evening of monologues that looks at the immigrant experience through 10 characters. Stay after the performance for a Meet-the-Artist discussion.
