Yo-Yo Ma

Saturday, March 6
4 pm, Campbell Hall

“A national institution”
—The New York Times

“One of the world’s most sublime cellists”
—Washington Post

“There is hardly a virtuoso of any instrument who is as complete, profound, passionate and humane a musician as Ma.”
—Boston Globe

“At four, he learned his first Bach cello suite; at five, he gave his first concert in Paris; at six, he dazzled Isaac Stern; and at seven, he played in a televised concert hosted by Leonard Bernstein and attended by President and Mrs. Kennedy.”
—Mark Salzman, from the liner notes for Classic Yo-Yo

This rare and intimate recital by Yo-Yo Ma, widely acknowledged as the greatest cellist of his generation, features a brilliant performance of three of Bach’s magnificent Unaccompanied Cello Suites. This is Mr. Ma’s first Arts & Lectures appearance in 20 years and will be his only U.S. solo recital this season.
